Terry Buffington Productions LLC is a community-based organization with the goal of featuring original, cultural, and diverse productions and events inspired by the Terry Buffington Papers 1952-2014 and is composed of talented individuals. As a community building event, I as the Artistic Director will bring the organization to a broader and more diverse audience by reaching out to those communities who are enthusiastic about theater, and social and political awareness.
The Terry Buffington Foundation's mission is to promote the culture and contributions of African American history, through community building events and collaborative efforts which makes our organization more inclusive.
My most recent Anthropological contributions are the Terry Buffington Papers 1952-2014, donated to and sponsored by the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, at the Wilson Special Collections Library in 2001. My research focused on Black men from West Point, Mississippi, who came of age during the civil rights movement and were influenced by Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) field organizers like Ralph Featherstone and Stokely Carmichael. In addition to tapes and transcripts of this work are also included are photographs, printed materials, LPs, films, and more. The entire collection is 2.5 feet of linear shelf space, over 750 items.
The Terry Buffington Foundation is a robust team that aims to enrich and educate the community to feel connected through our programs by producing cultural, conscientious and thought-provoking programs, events and performances that reflect the social and political issues of our times. We want people to see the history of civil rights movement, so that people can feel empathy about the subject, with the intent to inspire others by presenting a challenge to the ethos of the 1960s and the future of black culture in our country.
